LUMBER AND HANDCRAFTED WOOD PRODUCTS FROM LOCALLY-GROWN AND SUSTAINABLY MANAGED OAK, CHERRY, AND WALNUT
Pleasant Lake Hardwoods sells hardwood lumber and a small line of products crafted from that wood. Our native oak, cherry, walnut and hardwoods are grown on our own woodlot just south of Pleasant Lake in Washtenaw County, Michigan. Our tree farm is a certified member of the American Tree Farm System and a past recipient of the Washtenaw County Tree Conservation Award. Most years we harvest a limited number of carefully selected trees ourselves, and hire a local sawyer to process them into lumber. Our stock includes standard 4/4 lumber along with 5/4, 6/4 and 8/4 boards and some specialty pieces. All of the lumber we sell is air-dried.
The property on which our trees grow has been in Bob Miller’s family since 1943. His father began planting trees here at that time. Our careful wood lot management and production of the iconic “Leopold” bench actively promotes the Leopold land ethic of preserving “the integrity, stability and beauty of the biotic community.” Since our main retail outlet, Urbanwood at Recycle Ann Arbor's Reuse Center, has closed, we are selling only at the farm. If you would like to purchase lumber from us please contact Bob at 734-428-8222 to arrange a visit. |
